Venla eyelids flutters as morning lights her bedroom and she wakes up to the feeling she's not alone. There’s enthusiasted dog steps next to her and wet nose touches her arm. And there's strong arm around her waist. It takes a moment to remember what happened yesterday.
-Are you feeling better? Ilari asks and Venla turns to see him.
– Um, yes. Thanks. It feels so weird to be this close now and Venla doesn't know what to say. Ilari's basically a total stranger to her. A damn fine looking stranger.
– Does this happen often? He wants to know.
-No. Only when there's thunder, Venla replies shyly.
– Why?
- It's post traumatic stress dissorder, Venla gulps. - I can't help it. Ilari's brows furrow.
– Want to share more? Venla thinks awhile but decides she ows him explanation.
– I… I was… there was a accident. Carcrash. A massive thunderstorm, trees started to fall and... Venla gets tense and she holds her breath. – My parents died, I was pinned under fallen treetrunk in the backseat and it broke both of my legs and hip. One branch pierced my lung. I still can't believe I survived that. Venla's voice breaks and her eyes fills with tears. Ilari pulls her gently closer again and lets her weep. Venla seldom talks about accident and is still very emotional from what happened yesterday.
- It's okay. he says. - Just let it out. When did this happen?
-When I was 16, Venla sobs. -Sorry I'm such a crybaby now.
-No need to apologize. Ilari sighs. -I'm so sorry. You had it really rough.
A good cry later Venla is making up breakfast.
– This is least I can do for you since you let me out and helped me. She says and puts fried eggs and sandwiches in front of Ilari. -And you took care of me though I was really out there.
-You were in pretty bad shape yesterday, Ilari confirms.
-I guess I really panicked, Venla thinks and takes a sip from her tea. She scrathes Lucky's ears thankfully.
-I'd say you were beyond panic, Ilari disagrees. - I've never seen anything like that.
– Wow, I'm a special snowflake, Venla tries to be cheerful and makes Ilari smile little. -And thank you, you precious hairy wonder, she continues to pet Lucky. -I don't know what would happened without you!
-Btw. These are best fried eggs I have eaten for a while, Ilari compliments his breakfast.
-It's not a hotel breakfast, but…
- Come on. Take a compliment when you get it, Ilari interrupts her. – It's really good. You must be exhausted and you put all this up like nothing.
