61. Can I meet your Cinderella?

They talk for a long time, catch up and Ilari is pleased to see his granny. He has missed her more than he realized. Virpi didn't want to go to Joutsa to visit her. Everything was so outdated, too countryside for her tastes and she didn't like Bertta's fussing and caretaking. Maybe it was cause spotlight wasn’t on her? Ilari let’s out a sigh. Now when he thinks about it, Virpi kinda separated him from his granma for years. Bertta called him every week but they haven’t seen face to face for a long long time.

- Darling, this isn't yours I guess? Bertta shows him little delicate bracelet. – I took liberty to do your laundry and cleaned a bit when you were out. I found this between couch pillows. Ilari looks at said piece of jewellery. That is Venla's for sure.
 -Um..
– Tell me this don't belong to Virpi, Bertta sighes heavily. -That girl was never good for you.
– Virpi isn't in the picture anymore, Ilari murmurs and snatches bracelet from her granmother's hand and stuffs it into his pockets – We broke up almost 6 months ago.

- That’s so good to hear! Bertta places hand to her heart. – So?
- So what?
- Who's your Cinderella? Can I meet her?
 - Gran, please.
– Even though I'm waiting to hold my grangrandchildren don't rush and remember to be careful? Passion is good to have but it can dim out the reason.
- Christ, Gran. You should take that lecture on Iiro. I'm already over 30 not a kid anymore.
– Your parents weren’t children either. It's better to find the one you are happy with first and then think about familymatters after that.
– Oh god…
-What did I miss? Iiro says from the door and smiles.
– Hey darling! How's the army? Bertta smiles to his younger grandson.
- Sucks.
- Now now. It's over soon.
- How’s Kirppu?
- Oh. She’s fine!
- So what's the fuss?
- Don't. Ilari says in warning tone.
- Don't what, Iiro gets curious.
- I was curious to find out about your brother's new girlfriend. Have you met her?
Iiro gives Ilari a sharp sideways look. -Mhmm? I'd like to hear more about that too.
Ilari curses under his breath.
- There's not much to tell yet.
- Oh, good then! Iiro grins. – I think I'll check if Venla's home and if she wants to play.
- Don't you dare!
- Ok boys, Bertta cuts in. - I'm used to see you bickering, but would you calm down for a while. I haven't seen you both for a long time and I don't want to see you fighting now. Can we try to be a family for a moment?
For a short woman she holds so much authority she could command an army.
Both men fall in silence. They love and respect her too much for start a fight.
– So. Now when we are at peace again, can we start thinking what do we want to eat today?
